Dr. Athea Vanzant holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in Management from Mercer University, (minor in Marketing) and graduated as President of the Alpha Tau Chapter of Delta Sigma Pi, America’s foremost business fraternity. She received a Master of Arts in Education, specializing in Adult Education and Training from University of Phoenix and Doctorate of Education in Higher Education and Adult Learning from Walden University.
Dr. Vanzant is passionate about education access and equality for the first generation, nontraditional, and adult student populations and actively advocates for equity and justice through the performing arts as a travelling spoken word artist and mentor. She continues to support communities provided her 2017-2019 service as Co-Campus and Community Outreach Director – Eastern Region of Golden Key International Honor Society, Walden University Chapter and by continuously holding CPR, First Aid, and Mental Health First Aid Certifications since 2018.
As a first-generation college student, Dr. Vanzant met her personal goal by becoming the first in her family to graduate college, first to obtain a master’s degree, and by becoming the first and only doctor in her family. She believes in advocating with and bestowing honor, leading by example, serving with humility, and actively being a part of the solution. Her goal is to empower others to leave the world in a better state than they received. She is a proud board member of The Galaxy of Poets, where she serves as Director of Mental Health and Wellness.
